MAMAs, sisters, girlfriends, aunties
Hi, I’m Shauna, a mama & artist new to the Chiemsee. I’m from Atlanta, Georgia, I studied cultural anthropology in college but still have no clue what I’d do with that. I was a housekeeper and librarian to get through school & also worked as a barista part-time. The desire to work has never been an issue for me & my need to constantly create in any spare time I’ve had gives me an energy in a way nothing else was capable of.
In 2006, I made the move to Berlin itching for a new way for myself and hopeful about what would be next. To make ends meet, I took a job working as a Waldtag & english speaking Erzieherin for MTV’s bilingual Kindergarten. I met loads of interesting people, including the future Papa of my kids.
In 2012, I was pregnant with my daughter; it wasn’t a healthy pregnancy, so I made the difficult choice to leave Berlin-Neukölln & fly back to Atlanta for the birth. Basti, (baby’s daddy) grew up in Bavaria, so when my baby was 6 months old we moved back to Germany but this time to Bavaria.
Life flew our family in a new direction after the birth of my son, who is diagnosed with a rare chromosome disorder.
He’s 10 now, and the most incredible boy I’ve ever known & I’ve known tons. He does however require my availability 24/7 which has left it extremely difficult to have a part-time job, let alone a career.
I’ve been very fortunate that my art has given me some income and purpose beyond being a Mama, and it’s something I’ve been able to do from the comforts of home. I suspect there are loads of talented women who have similarly limited time & availability, because Life, who could also benefit from income for their work… we just need a place to showcase!
I’m opening up a tiny shop on the outskirts of Übersee in July along the Chiemsee trail, and I’m extending the invitation to creative females looking to display their works with me. Paintings, ceramics, housewares, crafts… Whatever your creative niche i: I’m curious.

Looking forward to hearing from you & seeing your work!
